What Is Cerakote

A Ceramic Finish That Outperforms the Rest

Cerakote is a thin-film ceramic polymer coating that bonds to metal, polymer, wood, and other substrates at roughly the thickness of a sheet of paper. Applied at our Redmond, Oregon facility, it adds extreme hardness, corrosion resistance, and abrasion protection without changing the fit of close-tolerance parts, which matters on suppressors, slides, and precision-machined components.

Every part runs through our full prep process before coating, including disassembly, degreasing, and media blasting for mechanical adhesion. That prep work is what separates a Cerakote finish that holds up to years of real use from one that chips or flakes at the first sign of wear. From a single custom firearm to a full production run, the result is the same. We have been doing this work in Central Oregon since 2013.

Surface Engineering

Thin-Film Performance Starts Before the Coating

Cerakote performs best when the surface is engineered first. Before application, every part is inspected, degreased, media-blasted to a controlled profile, and masked where tolerances matter. That mechanical adhesion is what lets a thin-film ceramic finish resist wear, corrosion, solvents, and heat without unnecessary build-up.

Finish Families

The Right Cerakote Series for Every Application

H-Series

The oven-cured workhorse. H-Series delivers maximum hardness, abrasion resistance, and corrosion protection across the widest range of metals and polymers. It is the standard choice for firearms, receivers, slides, and metal industrial parts where you need a proven performer in hundreds of available colors.

C-Series (High-Temp)

Rated to 1,200°F. C-Series ceramic is built for parts that run hot: exhaust headers, suppressors, engine components, and high-cycle industrial equipment. The coating resists thermal degradation and retains its finish where standard coatings would discolor or fail.

Elite Series

The most chemical- and abrasion-resistant Cerakote available. Elite is a ceramic-polymer hybrid engineered for parts exposed to the harshest solvents, oils, and mechanical wear. It is the top-tier choice when protection requirements go beyond what H-Series covers.

Do I need to prep or disassemble my firearm before sending it?
No. We handle all prep in-house, including disassembly where needed, degreasing, and media blasting for adhesion. Send your parts as they are. See our full coating process for the complete rundown.
How durable is Cerakote compared to bluing or parkerizing?
Cerakote is a thin-film ceramic that adds significantly more hardness, corrosion resistance, and abrasion protection than traditional bluing or parkerizing. Independent testing conducted by Cerakote shows strong salt-spray and wear performance. That said, the quality of the prep work, mechanical adhesion, and curing process is what determines how long any coating holds. Our full in-house prep process is why the finish lasts.
Can you match a specific color or camo pattern?
Yes. We work from 400+ stock colors plus custom blends, and we apply camo, multi-color, and custom patterns by hand and stencil. Bring us a reference image or describe what you are going for and we will work out the details. See our gallery for examples of past work.
Can Cerakote handle high heat?
Yes. Our C-Series high-temperature Cerakote is rated to 1,200°F, making it a strong fit for exhaust headers, suppressors, engine components, and other parts that run hot. Standard H-Series is not designed for sustained high heat, so specifying the right series matters.
Do you ship, or do I need to bring parts to your Redmond shop?
Both work. Our facility is at 810 NE Hemlock Avenue in Redmond, Oregon, convenient to Bend and the broader Central Oregon area. We also accept shipped parts from customers across the US and Canada. Pack parts securely, ship to our address, and we will return them finished. Contact us before shipping for any project-specific instructions.
How long does a Cerakote project take?
Most projects ship within 5 to 10 business days once we receive your parts. Turnaround depends on project complexity, the finish type, and current shop volume. We will give you a realistic timeline with your quote. If you have a deadline, let us know upfront.
Is Cerakote safe for the internal parts of a firearm?
Cerakote applied at the correct thickness does not affect the function of properly fitted firearm components. Because the coating is applied at roughly 1 mil thickness, it does not build up like paint and does not interfere with close-tolerance parts when applied correctly. We mask internal surfaces that should stay bare.
